Shamsynar Ani

Shamsynar graduated with MSci (Hon) Physiotherapy from King’s College London in 2000, and did her postgraduate Masters in Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy from University of South Australia in 2006.

 

Shamsynar is a trained Clinical Pilates practitioner and incorporates Clinical Pilates in managing patients with acute and overuse orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions. With more than 20 years of clinical experience working in both the public and private sector settings; she has worked with young and elderly athletes, recreational and competitive athletes as well as athletes with neurological issues.

 

Shamsynar had experience in organising physiotherapy coverage for major sporting events, which included the OSIM Triathlons (2007-2009), the inaugural Asian Youth Olympic Games (2009) and the Youth Olympic Games (2010). A research paper in sports injuries Ms. Ani headed in 2008 won a Clinical Pathway Improvement Project organised by the Ministry of Health.

Shamsynar is a firm believer in lifelong learning and that the best way to learn is to teach. Her experience include training and mentoring student and junior physiotherapists. She is currently as associate faculty in the Singapore University of Social Sciences and the Singapore Institute of Technology.
